..: a season for everything
..:

If you really think about it, you'll find that most of the time I'm pretty happy with the way things are. For a while there, I'd come home at almost exactly the same time every day, put my keys on the stairs and put all the other junk in my pockets in the same place on my desk, and take off my Simple shoes and wash my face. Then, it was time to tune in the radio and read the further adventures of Ender, or even the further adventures of Paul or Joseph. Anyway, that was for a time, and as Solomon makes it clear, there is a season for everything. I think the seasons may be changing. (Tim, you're right, I got that new guitar and I do feel the angst giving way to joy, and it's a more healthy prod to get those songs out, and to write what must be written.) Every night, at about the same time before I fall asleep, I always end up asking myself the same question, "Perry, how do you feel?" And almost every time except this week, the answer has been "does it matter?" And that usually puts an end to the miserable threat of self-pity knocking at the door. And another thing - you can put what you will in my dreams, but that won't stop me. I still remember the true things, and you can't get me to slip up that way, I'm going to keep steadfast here. Remember what we read the other night? Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the decision that something is more important than fear.
